Position Overview:
Dawson ISD is seeking a motivated and dedicated Head Boys Basketball Coach / JH Math Teacher to join our team. This position includes teaching Junior High Math while leading the boys basketball program and assisting with additional coaching assignments as needed. The ideal candidate will be committed to developing student success both academically and athletically.
Key Responsibilities:
-Teach Junior High Math in alignment with TEKS and district expectations
-Create an engaging and structured classroom environment that promotes student learning
-Serve as Head Boys Basketball Coach
-Assist with additional coaching assignments as needed
-Plan, organize, and supervise practices, games, offseason workouts, and athletic events
-Promote teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship among student-athletes
-Collaborate with coaching staff, administration, and faculty to support student success
-Maintain communication with students, parents, and staff
-Uphold district policies, UIL regulations, and professional standards

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree (required)
-Valid Texas teaching certification (required or ability to obtain)
-Math certification or ability to obtain appropriate certification (preferred)
-Head basketball coaching experience (preferred)
-Strong classroom management and leadership skills
-Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
-CDL or willingness to obtain CDL for student transportation (required)
-Valid Texas teaching certification (required or ability to obtain)
-Math certification or ability to obtain appropriate certification (preferred)
-Head basketball coaching experience (preferred)
