Title
Superintendent of Schools
Location
Dawson ISD
Description
The Powell Law Group is excited to collaborate with Dawson ISD in their search for a new superintendent. Dr. Danny Lovett will be conducting the search process.
Dawson Independent School District (ISD), located in Dawson, Texas, serves the students of southwestern Navarro County, including the unincorporated community of Purdon. The district operates a single school with two campuses: Dawson Elementary School, accommodating students from Pre-K through 6th grade, and Dawson Junior/Senior High School, serving grades 7 through 12. With an enrollment of approximately 625 students and approximately 100 staff members, Dawson ISD is committed to providing a supportive and personalized learning environment.
In addition to our primary focus on core academics, the district offers a variety of programs to cater to diverse student interests, including dual credit college courses, extracurricular activities, athletics, fine arts, and more. Dawson ISD boasts well-maintained educational and athletic facilities and provides top-notch training equipment to support student-athletes in sports such as volleyball, football, cross-country, basketball, baseball, softball, powerlifting, tennis, and track. The district also supports active participation in organizations like the Future Farmers of America (FFA), where students have achieved notable successes at district, area, and state levels in recent years.
Dawson ISD has received a "Superior" rating on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (F.I.R.S.T.) report every year since 2010. This recognition highlights the district’s commitment to strong fiscal management and ensures resources effectively support students and staff. Dawson ISD stakeholders also recently approved a $13.3 million bond to expand the district's facilities with a new football stadium and track, along with adding turf to softball and baseball fields. The project is on schedule for completion in July 2025.
The town of Dawson, situated in Central Texas, is a close-knit community that values education and actively supports its schools. This partnership between the district and the community fosters a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally. The district's motto, "Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow," reflects its dedication to preparing students for future success.
